DISCURSOS PROFERIDOS NA INAUGURAÇÃO DA FACULDADE DE DIREITO EM 10 DE DEZEMBRO DE 1892
Resumo
Além de órgão divulgador de produção científica da Faculdade de Direito da UFMG, a sua Revista reúne também a função de repositório da sua história. O presente número oferece o valioso material jamais reunido anteriormente e graças à colaboração do historiador Professor Luiz Arnaut, que buscou as fontes diretas dos eventos marcantes da inauguração, em 10 de Dezembro de 1982, em Ouro Preto. Trata-se da transcrição dos discursos pronunciados pelas autoridades da época e pelos fundadores, permitindo a reconstrução do ambiente cultural e político de Minas Gerais e do Brasil. Com a análise desse material, revela-se a necessidade que se impunha da criação de uma faculdade de Direito capaz, se exprimir os sentimentos e os anseios de justiça da sociedade republicana que, então se configurava no país.

ABSTRACT
Besides its role as a divulgation organ of the scientific production of UFMG Law School, this Journal also has the function of being the School’s historical repository. The present issue offers valuable material never before gathered, thanks to the AID of the historian Professor Luiz Arnaut, sho sought the straight sources of the distinguished events of the inauguration on December 10th, 1892, Ouro Preto. pronounced by the authorities of the time and also by the founders, allowing the reconstruction of the cultural and political environmente
of Minas Gerais ando f Brazil. Due the analysis of this material it is revealed the need that urged the creation of a aw School capable of expressing the feelings and yearnings for Justice of the republican society, which gained proportions in the country at that time.
