Abstract

This text is a commentary on the intellectual work of Antônio Augusto Cançado Trindade, the first Latin American jurist to take a place in the beautiful and prestigious Doctrine(s) collection created and directed by Emmanuelle Jouannet (and taken over today by Jean Matringe). The text analyzes both the positions of the author as a representative of a Latin American legal tradition and a specialist in human rights. The reader will be able to observe that the humanist vision «Cançado Trindadienne» settles deeply in time, here that of inter-American litigation. This is undoubtedly a major aspect of his work: succeeding in being embodied, in an effective way, in positive law.
